The key to accident prevention:

Frank E Bird states that:


1) If we can eliminate all unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, about 98% of all industrial accidents will be prevented.


 2) Unsafe acts represent 88% of all industrial accidents.


 3) Unsafe conditions represent 10% of all industrial accidents.


 4) Acts of Providence represents 2% of all industrial accidents.







 a)  Should we eliminate and control all unsafe acts and near miss incidents, property damage accidents will not occur.


 b) Should we eliminate and control all property damage accidents; minor injury incidents and accidents will not occur.


 c) Should we eliminate and control all minor incidents and accidents - serious        injuries, fatalities and/or major property damage accidents will not occur.
